04/07/2017 Shaped to Serve: Hallo Hallo Job joins UP University Job Fair 2017

Hallo Hallo Job's participation in the University of the Philippines' 27th annual University Job Fair (UJF) is a union of many firsts, as the business indexing site brought some of its trusted partners to provide career opportunities to graduating Iskolars ng Bayan during the semester-long program's main event held on March 28 to 31 at Ang Bahay ng Alumni in UP-Diliman.

Among the companies that we have invited are Tronix, Robinsons Supermarket, and Compass Manpower, which all presented job vacancies from their respective organizations along with openings within our own. Joining forces with them allowed us to offer a diverse list of positions while amplifying our support for the university's goal of assisting the students transition from college life to the professional world. Just like our attendance in UJF 2017, this collaboration is a first for Hallo Hallo Job, and a favorable one that we hope to replicate in future projects.

Shaped to Serve

As the theme for the 2017 edition of UJF has been “Shaped to Serve,” the activities centered on prepping the seniors to join the workforce while keeping their sense of public service alive. These include mock job interviews and networking opportunities with government bodies, non-government organizations, private companies, and respected experts in their chosen fields. Supporting these events were a hundred industry-leading firms and top employers in the country, including Hallo Hallo Job, which stood as a minor sponsor of the recruitment convention.

Tech is the way to go

Out of the various companies present in UJF 2017, tech-oriented ones were viewed as the most lucrative by Iskos and Iskas. Charlene, a 19-year-old UP student seeking internships, related that tech companies are “at the forefront of the digital age.”

The Hallo Hallo Job representatives who manned our booth shared the same sentiments, noting that businesses under the IT sect are the most promising, thanks to the increasing need for process automation in all industries.

“With less paperwork, there are less mistakes,” Hallo Hallo Job Marketing Researcher Kim Maglasang reasoned out the rise of digitized tasks. Our company's Sales and Marketing Manager, Shiela Vidanes, seconded by pointing out social media management as another highly in-demand expertise both here and abroad.

Adding proof to these statements are the tech-related vacancies that constantly remain among the active postings on Hallo Hallo Job: Click Here

03/02/2017 Hallo hallo Job fortifies presence in increasingly active Career Guide

Hallo hallo Job remains among the Philippine Star's trusted partners in providing employment opportunities to countless Filipinos, as the online business directory took part once again in Career Guide job fair on February 21 and 22, 2017 in the Trinoma Activity Center, Quezon City.

Led by HR Manager Jing Dalisay and representatives from its Marketing Department, the indexing site welcomed jobseekers and new affiliates when they conducted on-the-spot assessments during the event's two-day run. Also present was Hallo Hallo Job Director and former DOLE (Department of Labor and Employment) Undersecretary Nicon Fameronag, who joined the organizers in the opening ceremonies.

What's new

Career Guide was born out of the broadsheet's Classifinder section as an avenue for employers and their potential employees to meet and proceed to the hiring process on-site. Four years after its launch in 2012, the recruitment convention expanded its annual function to a semi bi-monthly affair.

Pushing efforts further, the Philippine Star decided to hold the job fair every month, whose roll-out was timed with the onset of 2017, making the February event its second of the many scheduled throughout the year. Hallo hallo Job has been a desirable presence in last three Career Guide editions, as the participation of companies offering diverse positions is one of the goals behind the event's shift.

True enough, most of the applicants who visited Hallo Hallo Job's booth aimed for the restaurant staff positions more than the other openings available last week.

Keys to employment success

When asked about the qualities that she looks for in an applicant, HR Manager Jing Dalisay pointed out that attentiveness and a clear target are key. She elaborated that unlike pre-scheduled interviews, job fair assessments can be shorter to accommodate all the candidates, so they should be straightforward with their answers.

“They must be sure about the positions that they want instead of applying for whatever is available,” she added, referring to those who try their luck but don't have a specific career goal in mind.

These echoed the words of Director Fameronag, who said in his opening speech that aside from attending conventions, jobseekers should also research on “how they could qualify, what additional training they would need.” He further stated, “Our labor market is fast changing. The behavior of employers continue to change; they continue to demand excellence and perfect fit for their requirements. If we do not cope, we would really have a hard time landing jobs.”

To keep up with the changes, Hallo Hallo Job promises to continue diversifying its network to be able to answer recruitment needs in the coming editions of the job event.

11/09/2016 Talisay Mardigras 2016: A fantastic Halloween feast

Lively colors and upbeat tunes flooded the streets of Talisay on the afternoon of October 31, as locals and visitors alike gathered to witness the townspeople display their flair for crafts and showmanship through the third annual Talisay Mardigras float parade and costume competition.

Held around the Halloween season, the event lets the Batangas town have its own take on the world-renowned festival. This year's Mardigras has been a stark contrast to the traditionally dark mood of most Halloween parties, thanks to the agreed fantasy theme.

Well-loved fictional characters were brought to life by the participating groups and guest performers, which consisted of 15 floats represented by Talisay municipality departments, plus non-competing entries from government offices of neighboring cities. Hallo Hallo Alliance was seen there too, as we were tapped by the Tourism Office to team up with them. The moving tableaus made their rounds in Barangays Aya and Sampaloc before culminating in the municipal gymnasium.

There were Disney classics such as Snow White and Mickey Mouse, as well as personas from Hollywood blockbusters like Star Wars and the Avengers. Filipino favorites from local TV shows Encantadia and Mulawin also graced the festival, along with fixtures from popular folklore and otherworldly tales.

After the float parade, Taliseños showcased their performing talents through group production numbers and individual costume contests, which wowed the audience with a diverse mix of the strange and the majestic.

The night was then concluded with the announcement of winners. The Municipal Agriculture Office's Snow White-themed float was hailed the best, followed by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council's Mulawin set as second place and the Municipal Health Office's representation of Alice in Wonderland as third.

The Talisay Tourism Office aims to use the feast as an avenue for the locals to promote their artistry, while shaping the event as an annually anticipated gathering that could invite visitors to see more of the town. With how the third Mardigras transported Talisay to a dreamy world of wonders, it truly shows promise of becoming one of the well-known festivals in the country!

Hallo Hallo Alliance also believes in the importance of cultivating arts and culture in local communities. For this recent event, the Alliance showed support by sponsoring the float of the Tourism Office.
